What do you do when a couple smiles from the moment the day begins to the moment they wave goodbye? You photograph every single second of it. Gabriella and Daniel’s wedding day was one of those rare days where joy wasn’t just a feeling — it was the whole atmosphere. I genuinely did not catch either of them without a smile on their faces. Not once, all day long.
Their day was rooted in something timeless: a breathtaking cathedral, a river winding just outside its doors, and a reception surrounded by the people who love them most. Simple. Warm. Exactly them.
St. Mary’s Cathedral is one of those venues that doesn’t need any decoration — the architecture does all the work. Watching Gabriella walk down those aisles toward Daniel, the light filtering in, the whole room holding its breath — it was the kind of moment that reminds you why you do this job.
Daniel’s face when he saw her is a photograph I keep coming back to. There were flower girls, there were tears, there were laughs — but mostly there was this quiet, steady joy between two people who were exactly where they were meant to be. The smiles started here and never, ever stopped.

This crew brought the energy and kept it going all day. The kind of wedding party that makes a photographer’s job genuinely fun — supportive, enthusiastic, and completely there for Gabriella and Daniel in every way that mattered.

After the ceremony, we slipped away to the river — tucked right beside St. Mary’s Cathedral, one of those settings you’d be silly not to use. It was the beginning of May, and the world was just waking up: the grass was finding its green, the trees were budding, and there was still just enough of a chill in the air to give everything that soft, cinematic quality that early spring in Alberta does so well.
We even made our way right down to the water’s edge, and those are some of my favourite frames of the entire day. Gabriella and Daniel were completely at ease with each other — laughing, wandering, not trying too hard at anything. The river, the cathedral behind them, the pale spring light. Perfect doesn’t quite cover it.

The reception was held in the small town of Carstairs — a simple hall, unpretentious and warm, and absolutely right for who these two are. It wasn’t about the décor. It was about the room being full of people who genuinely love them.
The speeches were heartfelt and funny in equal measure. The first dance was tender and a little bit electric. And by the time the floor opened up, there wasn’t a soul sitting on the sidelines — Gabriella and Daniel set the tone all day long, and everyone followed right along.

We snuck back out for golden hour and Alberta delivered. The light was soft and golden and generous, and Gabriella and Daniel showed up with the same smiles they’d had all day. Some things don’t change.

Gabriella and Daniel — what a joy it was to spend this day with you both. You smiled your way through every single moment of it, and it was an absolute honour to capture it all.
